MatchBench: Benchmarking Schema Matching Algorithms for Schematic Correspondences
نویسندگان
چکیده
Schema matching algorithms aim to identify relationships between database schemas, which underpin a wide range of model management operations, such as merge, compose and difference, as required for tasks such as data integration, exchange or schema evolution. However, the results of matching algorithms are typically expressed as lowlevel, 1-to-1 associations between pairs of attributes or entity types, rather than as the higher-level characterisations of relationships required by many implementations of model management operations. This paper presents a benchmark for evaluating schema matching algorithms that is based on the well established classification of schematic heterogeneities of Kim et al., which explores the extent to which the matching algorithms are effective at diagnosing schematic heterogeneities. The paper contributes: (i) a wide range of scenarios that manifest different types of schematic heterogeneities; (ii) a collection of experiments over the scenarios that can be used to investigate the performance of different matching algorithms; and (iii) an application of the experiments for the evaluation of matchers from three well-known and publicly available schema matching platforms, namely COMA++, Rondo and OpenII.

An Improved Semantic Schema Matching Approach
Schema matching is a critical step in many applications, such as data warehouse loading, Online Analytical Process (OLAP), Data mining, semantic web [2] and schema integration. This task is defined for finding the semantic correspondences between elements of two schemas. Recently, schema matching has found considerable interest in both research and practice. In this paper, we present a new impr...

Ontology Based Data Access (OBDA) enables access to relational data with a complex structure through ontologies as conceptual domain models. A key component of an OBDA system are mappings between the schematic elements in the ontology and their correspondences in the relational schema. Today, in existing OBDA systems these mappings typically need to be compiled by hand. In this paper we present...
متن کاملDefining and Using Schematic Correspondences for Automatically Generating Schema Mappings
Mapping specification has been recognised as a critical bottleneck to the large scale deployment of data integration systems. A mapping is a description using which data structured under one schema are transformed into data structured under a different schema, and is central to data integration and data exchange systems. In this paper, we argue that the classical approach of correspondence iden...
متن کاملDuplicate based schema matching
The integration of independently developed data sources poses many problems, which are the result of several types of heterogeneity. One of the most daunting challenges is schema matching, which is the semi-automatic process of detecting semantic relationships between attributes in heterogeneous schemata. Various solutions that exploit schema information or extract specific features from attrib...
